WELCOME TO YEAR 4

I hope you all had a good holiday and enjoyed the summer break. It’s lovely to see you all again looking so smart in your new uniforms and I’m sure you’ve all grown in the last few weeks!

I would like to welcome everyone to Year 4 and hope that we will have a fun, action-packed, interesting year with lots of high quality learning taking place. To enable this to happen please make every effort to attend school every day and arrive on time with the correct equipment. It is important that you learn out of school as well so remember to read every night (if possible) but at least 4 times per week. If you manage this the rewards are still in place!!

Our topic this term is “Who invaded Britain after the Romans?” and we will be investigating the role of the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings in our past. If anyone has any books or artefacts which would add to our understanding of this period of history it would be great if we could borrow them. Our forthcoming trip to Tatton Park, where we will experience what life was like at that time, should be a fantastic experience.

During this half term we will be reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and it would be a great help to you if you could learn your times tables. Playing on Sumdog at home is an easy way to learn as well as being fun!! If you would like any guidance as to how we work things out please come and ask and I will be more than happy to explain!

As always this will be a busy time with lots of exciting events:-   We will be beginning to learn Brass Instruments –more information soon! The Pop Project are due to make their annual visit to the school- so that is something to look forward to. We will also be going on trips to Formby and as previously mentioned having an experience of how to be a Saxon at Tatton Park.

As for the rest of the curriculum swimming will be on a Thursday afternoon, we will be leaving straight after dinner and returning just before home time. PE is on a Tuesday afternoon. Please make certain you have a full change of clothes (shorts, tee shirt, trainers/pumps, track suit bottoms) in a named bag.

It would be great if you could write on our Blog sometimes. If anything exiting happened over the summer that would be a great place to start. Or if you have any good jokes, suggestions or questions it would be fun to read those as well.

Well year 4 over to you…………..
